Default IntelliMover? Lost My Software disc

I bought IntelliMover back in '00 when I got my new Dell. Now my new Dell is over 6 yrs old so I just got a new PC. THe only issue is I found my USB transfer cable but I cant seem to find the software. Is it possible to use the File & Settings Transfer Wizard thats Microsoft provided with USB Cables? The only option I see says "Direct Cable ( a cable that connects your computers' serial ports)
Is there another way to transfer my music, photos & movies to my new pc without having to buy software? Thx guys

Hi Panache,

There are multiple ways to transfer files over
If you have a network card in both, you can get a crossover cable and plug them in or you can burn all the files to CD that you want to transfer over

You don't *need* file settings trransfer wizard

If you wanted -- you could also hook your old HD up as a slave in your new PC and copy files directly.

Has you old pc got a cd/dvd burner you transfer the data that way to. Or depending on how big the trasfer wiz file is you could burn that to cd/dvd. best way is to manually do it then you won't miss any thing. All of the suggestion mentioned here would work.

Kind Regards,
Matt

well my old HD will not fit into my new pc. (to my knowledge) The new pc is SATA or whateva lol. I havent been reading up on my PC info over the past 4 years or so and so much has changed like PCI EXPRESS!
Well I have about 23gigs of stuff to transfer over so CD's are out of the question.

Got CD or DVD drives?

Old HD is probably IDE... you could:
a) find another IDE connector on your MOBO and connect there
b) disconnect your CD/DVD and use that cable.
should be possible-- and pretty simple to do.
The amount of files... you need all of those files??

...or does that include everything on the disc?

Once you connect that old HD-- Windows should automatically detect the drive... as long as you ran Windows on your old machine-- should work like a charm.
The only possible issue... how new is your new PC ??
Is it still under warranty?
