Default [Answered] Stock control software - what to get?

Hello everybody,

Where i work ive been asked if i can find a program which can replace our manual stock system.

What they want is basically NOT a TPS. infact they want to keep their paper based invocies.

What they want is a system where you can update stock levels by enterign a model number and adding x ammount of stock or removing x ammount of stock. So i thought, oh database then.

But they also want the system when delivery sheets are created, or pick lists for the warehouse, the items which are on the sheets will be deducted automatically from the database.

Any one know of a program which can do this and how? Dont fancy loosing half my life to code one .

Hi Curver

Are you running Access and Excel?
If so how much knowledge of these programs have you?
If your interested I could contruct a "Rough sketch" idea for you to look at.
I could talk about options, limitations, formulas etc all day but it's up to you.

im ok with both of them, more up with access however not used excel in a few yerars but im sure it will come back to me.

I could build the system in access easily its just linking them to a report/work document where items can be selected i.e for deliveries and when printed or applied all of the items on that said form are then taken off the stock totals automatically.

Only thing i can really do with linking word and db's is mail mergeing lol

If your ok with =if formulas regarding stock levels, where it can be set to if a stock level reaches a certain point then it will flag up, then you should be ok.
A lot of applications like this corrolate between Access and Excel and you could do the print offs in the Forms section of Access.
