Default Repairing corrupted jpeg files

All,

I am hoping you can help me. I offloaded about 100 pictures from SD card to my PC at one time. The first third and last third were fine - you can see a preview and open. The pictures in the middle have a large file size as the others, but I cannot preview with Windows Explorer, nor can I open in PhotoShop, Paint, Windows Picture Viewer, Gimp. Somehow the pictures are corrupted.

Most of the recovery tools I found are trying to recover deleted files - not my case. PixelRecovery shows no issue.

The best info I got is from Gimp which states: Not a JPEG file: starts with 0x11 0x5d

Can someone point me to a hex viewer or something in which I can edit the picture? Anyone know how a jpeg file is formatted?

Appreciate your help. Thanks.

Hi edman, welcome to the forums.

Hex editing is definatly beyound my area of expertise.

However, when i've had a "not a jpeg" file error or similar, i've just re-copied the picture again, and it's worked.

Have you tried copying a couple at a time from the SD card?
