Default File Types under Folder Options for Audio-Video Files

Hi folks,
I have a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I recently downloaded Total Converter, but unbeknownst to me it also downloaded Total Player - which I didn't want or need - but when I realized it was there I decided to check it out. Unfortunately, it screwed up my audio/video file types. Apparently, because its in all-in-one player, after I uninstalled it - because frankly it sucked as a player - it retained the all-in-one component in my file types under Folder Options. Whenever I change a file tape to play on a different player, it changes all the other audio/video file types with it, forcing me to use just one player - which, for certain reasons, I don't want to do. When I try to change an individual file type under Folder Options itself, as soon as I click "Edit" after inputting the file type, I get a message that says the file type in question is assigned to "totalplayer.file." I've looked everywhere on my computer for a file associated with totalplayer, but I can't find one - as far as I can tell, everything was fully uninstalled when I got rid of it. Can someone tell me what's going on and how I can fix this? Thanks. -Steve

Have you tried to manually re-assign your file extensions (.wmp .mp3 etc) to your chosen player?

Yes - that's a problem. Here's an example - I want to play flv files with Media Player Classic and wmv's and mpeg's with Windows Media Player. Right now all three are playing in WMP. When I highlight an flv, then Shift and right click, select "Open with," choose Media Player Classic and check "Always use this program to open this type of file," it not only sets flv's to be opened by Media Player Classic, it also sets wmv's and mpeg's to be opened by Media Player Classic as well. Then when I go to File Types under Folder Options and try to add wmv or mpeg to the list I get a message that tells me they are assigned to totalplayer.file. I've only had this problem since I downloaded Total Converter. As I indicated in my original post, Total Player got downloaded as well, and my problems started when I tried to play a couple of video clips with Total Player. I have since completely uninstalled both Total Player and Total Converter, yet I still get this message. I hope all that makes sense, and better yet, I hope you have a solution. -Steve
