Default Copying text from .pdf to Word

I'm trying to copy a large portion of text from a .pdf file to a Word document. I'm using Adobe Reader and selecting the text using the "select text" option. When I paste it into Word, however, it breaks up the line formatting. For example, if the word "diagnostic" comes at the end of the line, "diag" would be at the end of one line and "nostic" would start the next line. There is no space being insterted, because if I put my cursor at the end of "diag" and press delete, it simply deletes the "n" from the next line.

Is there any way to fix this?

Unfortunately... the file formats are not compatible (as is)
there are file converter programs out there... or maybe there is a way to covert from within one of them. I'm no Word expert, I'm afraid.
