Default Acer Aspire Z800 Gamer Erecovery?

Hello.
I am a new member and found this site through google. I have been searching everywhere to a solution to my problem but i have come up empty handed

I bought an Acer Aspire Z800 gamer three months ago and the first time i fired it up it asked me to make a recovery DVD, so I did. Then put it in a safe place for storage. After a few weeks i decided to test Windows Vista...silly me
Anyway, I installed vista, it was unstable as expected and i wanted to go back to my original system. Well that was impossible
The erecovery DVD was unreadable so I could not restore my system!

I have spoken to the Acer support time after time and they can not send me a new erecovery disc saying they dont have any. I even sent my computer in for a restore but the idiots only replaced the dvd-burner but did NOT restore the hard drive :o

I do not want to send my computer in again since the last time they had it for over two weeks without results. Is there anyone who knows if it is possible to access the hidden partition and use one of the files there to make a new DVD for recovery or if there is anywhere on the net I can buy a recovery DVD?

I would appreciate any help and i set my hopes to this forum

Thank you in advance from an unhappy acer owner

Hi EuroBoyPN!
Welcome to PC Helpforum!

Well, pretty strange that Acer has no recovery disks at all!
Anyway, I'm sure that XP was on that laptop? Are you able to get another XP to install that one? I personally don't think this is the best solutions as Windows doesn't cover the Acer utilities that belong to your laptop, but at the moment I have no idea to another solution.
Perhaps other members have suggestions for you though.

Hi EuroBoyPN, welcome to pchf were we have a gr8 team of members to offer you great advice and help.
After searching yahoo i found a website http://www.gennersales.co.uk/recovery/acer.htm it contains disks to restore you acer computer, take a look. i have quoted above the disks the website sells.
An acer xp home edition installation cd is only 18.50 gbp, which i find very cheap as to buy xp home normally it is around 70 gbp, take a look and let me know what you think.

The website to go straight to acer xp home cd is http://www.gennersales.co.uk/recover...nstallation_CD
thx dave

Hi
I thought it was strange too that they had no discs but they have not been very helpful in any case
I downloaded a cd with WinXP OEM and installed it with the legit key i had for my computer and it worked fine but i had trouble finding the drivers for all the stuff in my computer since it is all located on the recovery disc and i cant find the programs specific for this computer either since they too are on that disc.

Would appreciate any help anyone can give me.
