Legitimately Downloaded music won't play
My wife and I both have legitimately downloaded music on our separate computers. Some of the (WMA) music files were downloaded in the past from several commercial sites like Wallmart; and some were downloaded just yesterday from the Wallmart site. Neither of us has played any music files for several months, but the files on our computers have not been changed or copied. They used to work! The music files that my wife paid for and downloaded from Wallmart yesterday will also not play on her computer. Neither Windows Media Player nor Roxio Audio Central will accept whatever licensing came with any of the downloaded files.
When we try to play the files in Windows Media Player, we get the message: "A security ugrade is required to play this file. Do you want to download the upgrade?" We both downloaded the upgrade and it made no difference; we still get the error message. I have Roxio Easy CD Creator version 6.0 which
includes a music player called Audio Central. I can't play these WMA files in that program either. I get an error message saying "Cannot open track. Insufficient rights."
I've searched the on-line Help files that Media Player accesses if I click the "Learn More" link on the error message dialog. I can't find anything that addresses the problem of legitimately licensed WMA files that won't play. Can anyone help me?
