Default [Answered] Game Resolution

Hello every this is my first post...Ive just joined...anyways,My problem is I have a PC game, (The Matrix - Path of Neo) and when I double-click on it the screen flickers and it just goes straight back to my desktop. After having done a couple of hours googling the problem (:-/) I have decided that my problem is the resolution. My monitor is a Samsung 15" TFT LCD and its currently set at 1024-768 32 bit. Here is a copy of everything that is in the config.ini file in the install directory:

[RENDERING]

;Setting 1 thru 4 Shader model 1.x being used
;Setting 5 thru 8 Shader model 2.x being used
;Setting 9 and 10 Shader model 3.x being used

QUALITY =2

COMPILE_SHADERS =1

;on-off windowed mode
FULLSCREEN =1

;video res, 0=640x480, 1=800x600, 2=1024x768, 3=1280x1024, 4=1600x1200, 5=1920x1440, 6=2048x1536
;anamorphic video, 10=1280x768, 11=1920x1200, 12=1680x1050
RESOLUTION =0

[CONTROLS]
;10=precise, 15=responsive, 30=high speed
MOUSE_SENSITIVITY=10

[PATHS]
; INCOMING NAME HAS A FULLY FORMED PATH, THEN RETURN DIRECTLY
; NAME THEN PREPENDS DEFAULT_DATA TO CHECK LOCALLY
; NAME FINALLY PREPENDS PRIMARY_DATA TO CHECK DVD

;NOTE - MUST HAVE TRAILING \ SLASH

EFAULT_DATA=C:\usr\local\Shared\Matrix_W32_Sampl e\
;PRIMARY_DATA=C:\usr\local\Shared\Matrix_W32_Sampl e\common\

[AUDIO]
;1=enable EAX, 0=disable EAX
EAX_ENABLED=0

And no matter what I do It still wont start, Any ideas ?

Hi there Prinz , welcome to PCHF.

What are youre system specs?
And have you made sure that windows , directx and youre drivers are up to date?

If you need help with that , just ask.

after reading another forum http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/thematrixthepathofneo/show_msgs.html?topic_id=26584944
there seems to be other people experienceing problems with the game.
It is possible that your graphics are out of date as this particular game has graphics cards that it does not support.

Also try what joe5 suggested because it could be a driver or directx issue or something basic like that.

Hope i can help.

Yes my drives are upto date..havnt checked xp yet, but ill do that in a second...and yes I have the latest version of directx

My specs are:
Pentium 4 2.40GHz
Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics controller (its integrated into the MoBo)
40 Gig HD
512 RAM

I think thats all you really needa know...If you need more then just ask.

BTW heres my monitor:
Samsung SyncMaster 570V/580V TFT

I know thats not the best PC to be running games on xP but I have been thinking about building a new one...so this is all I have at the moment.

Looks like the onboard video chip is the prob:

Video - NVIDIA® GeForce™ FX 5200 or ATI Radeon® 8500 or greater*
Sound - DirectX® version 9.0c-compatible sound card
DirectX® - DirectX® version 9.0c (included) or higher
*Hardware T&L video cards that do not support shaders, such as the GeForce™ 4 MX
or Intel Extreme Graphics® family, are not supported.

Im afraid you'll need to upgrade before being able to play the game.
