Default [Answered] Video Playback Problems

I am running windows XP pro w/service pack 2. on a msi k7n2delta platinum mobo with a msi fx 550 graphics card. Anytime I play back any video on my computer the color is distorted. it doesnt matter which software i am using the play the video in, the color is still distorted. I have tried, nero showtime, windows media player, divx player, winamp, you name it, and ANY video that i playback has distorted color. I have tried installing several different codecs, unistalling, codecs and still same issue. this isn't happening on just 1 video, it happens even if i put a dvd inside my dvd player to play, or if i have just transferred a video from my camcorder to my pc. when i go to play it back, the color is distorted. my monitor is fine, the color on my monitor is flawless. this problem only occurs when using a software that is capable of playing back video. any help would be greatly appreciated....

thanks

Hi there Bobby , welcome to PCHF.

Sounds like a codec conflict to me , i would uninstall all codecs , uninstall the video driver , run a regcleaner and then reinstall.

A good reg cleaner:

install and run RegSupremePro. It will want to make a backup of your registry , let it. Once it has finished, click on the Registry Cleaner tab, select Aggressive. When it has completed, click on Select, choose All. Click on Fix, and let it fix everything that it finds.

You can get updated video drivers here:

And very good codec packs:
