[Resolved] Help; separate audio tracks playing simultaneously after dl'd video codec!
Hello all,
I have a rather bizarre problem and I'm hoping somebody can help me out. Last night, I was attempting to download a new video codec (MPEG4 decoder) to watch both DVDs and video downloads on my computer (the version of Nero Showtime I was using had expired). First I downloaded FFDShow, which didn't work for what I was wanting to watch so I uninstalled it. I then downloaded the Codec Pack All-in-one 1 6.0.3.0 which I was also unhappy with, so I uninstalled that, too. Thirdly, I downloaded Koepi's XviD Codec 1.2, which worked fine except for the fact that when I tried to play one of my movies, there was French talking underneath the regular English, as if there were two audio tracks playing simultaneously. Frustrated, I uninstalled XviD but I still can't seem to get rid of the French talking, even after running CCleaner, several spyware scans and a virus scan.
Has anybody ever heard of this or possibly have any suggestions for me? It's very frustrating!
Any advice you have I would appreciate greatly.
M

Hey M,
Welcome to PCHF. We have a pretty terrific team on our staff and I am sure that we will have your vid playing perfectly in no time.
My first thought is that since you almost had it with the last codec set, you might want to reconsider, it sounds like a setting to me.
What is the program that you are using to playback these vids?
Look forward to your reply,

Hi ladygreenwitch,
Thank you so much for your quick reply. I really appreciate it.
I am currently using Windows Media Player to play my videos.
I considered that it might be a setting - however I have no idea as to where I might be able to change this setting!
Thanks again. Look forward to hearing from you.

 Hey M,
BTW, LGW is just fine, :cheesy: less typing, LOL. Let me look at my player and see if I see any settings like that. In the mean time, could you please download RegSupremePro from my sig, install and run it. It will want to make a backup of your cache, let it. When it's done, click on the Registry Cleaner tab, and choose Aggressive. It will take a while. After it's finished, click on Select, choose All. Click on Fix, and let it fix everything it finds. Restart your computer and try your vid again.
Looking forward to your reply,
TTFN

LGW,
ARG. Ran Reg Supreme Pro, still no luck...
Oh and I thought I would mention - I tried it in both Windows Media Player and the Nero ShowTime player and it does the same thing in both.

:o Hey M,
Yea, that's pretty important, means that the setting is in the registry or on the PC, not the program. Thanks for saving me some research time.
I need to log off for the evening. While I am gone, one of my counterparts may throw in their two cents worth. Otherwise, I am going to need to do some research on this one.
I am going to leave your thread open on my desktop, to remind me to work on it tomorrow.
Please feel free to post if you think of anything relevant.
Talk to you soon,
TTFN

I dont think it is a setting because no one would ever want to eneble the different audio tracks at once , so that option probebly doesn't exist i think.
It is probebly more likely a faulting codec , or two conflicting codecs try to play the same file at the same time.
Do you still have any separete codecs (or codec packs) installed now? If you have uninstall those first and then install one of the codec packs from here:
http://www.pchelpforum.com/utilities...dec-packs.html
I think the installer of those also checks for faulting codecs during installation and removes them , but im not sure.
