LWG,

Again, thank you so much for your help. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Joe5,

I have uninstalled all codec packs and I will install one of the K-lite codecs. Any other suggestions?

Thanks, m

Okay, I successfully downloaded and installed the Basic version (2.70) of the K-lite codec pack. Here's where things get interesting...I just tried to watch one of my videos and the problem is still not fixed. On top of that, there are now (English) subtitles at the bottom of the screen and the video and audio does not sync up at all. I watched this same video just last week and I didn't have any of these problems.

However, in a different video that I also just tried, everything works just fine - no subtitles, no French, perfect audio/video syncronization.

Another thing I noticed - something called a AC3 filter appeared in my Control Panel today. I know I did not install this but it must've be installed along with one (or more) of the codec packs I installed and then never uninstalled. Could this have something to do with it? Also, I noticed a component of the Codec All-in-one pack is still left sitting in my start menu. It's called "Nastaveni XviD" and is located in my system32 folder.

Any thoughts?

Sounds still like a codec conflict i think , give this codec repair tool a try:

Still no luck... although it did prompt me to download other codecs (DivX, FFDShow) which I didn't bother doing - I think it's best to try and fix the problem before downloading a whole bunch more codecs. SIgh.
