Thank you for your input. Would you happen to know / be able to find the exact formats that Adobe supports? Like which AVI codecs and things like that as well. I've looked but can't seem to find it. I'm really bad at searching, heh. As for the camera, I had a Samsung (not exactly sure the model) for a while and was really displeased with it. It was really grainy and just was not what I was looking for. I guess the main thing I'm looking for is clarity and somewhat professional looking video. I don't shoot that often anymore but I still want a good camera for shooting family events and vacation footage and stuff while still being able to get some other good shots. In the past I've shot a few music videos and things for friends and just a lot of messing around with it and I'd like to be able to do that with better production and quality. Size does matter too, I don't want a huge camera I want it to be as small as possible while still being good and not having the quality compromised because of size. Thanks for you help.

Hey rory,

I think your <bump> of this post is justified after a week! The only thing I'm not sure about is whether you'll get the advice you need about this issue, from here. You're asking for advice about camera recommendation in a PC support forum....

I hope someone picks up on this for you, sadly I don't know much about digi cameras.

Well, I tried finding more detail about Adobe Premire, but I couldn't find much either, other than their web site that lists all the different formats, like AVI, WMV, WMA, MPEG & DV. I've never really had need to delve deeper into specific codecs, but I bet they would let you know if you have some specific details you're looking for - their support is some of the best, and even better when it may lead to a new sale. I also learned last week that the capture device as well as the software running it makes a big difference in the quality of the final captured video. The ultimate capture quality is "lossless" and that really is an identical copy of the information on the tape, although very expensive. Also, again, the JVC camera I have is as clear as I can imagine any consumer level camera to be. One thing I like is that it has lots of adjustments available for whatever situation you're working with. The only way to really compare is to go to a Wolf Camera or Best Buy, or wherever, and try the ones you think will be the best. Look at dark objects when doing these tests. I can almost guarantee that none of them will pick up subtle dark changes very well, but that's where you'll most easily see which one is better. It's a bummer Studio isn't working better for you. I haven't had those problems myself, and I use Studio a lot. I remember version 8 having a lot of problems when it first came out, and I had to "check for updates" quite often. I also have a pretty fast computer with a lot of memory, and maybe that makes it less likely to run into freezing and shut down problems. Good Luck.
