Default [FIXED] problem with zip files

when i try to open a zip file i get an error message saying ''this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. create an association in the folder options control panel''
i never used to get this message and i have tried winrar and winzip but i got the same message
i can still access the files in the archives by right clicking, dragging and using the 'extract here' option but i dont like doing this
does anyone know how to fix this problem? thanks

Try this:

Open winzip , go to "options" / "configuration" , then on the "system" tab , make sure "associate winzip with archives" is checked and if you press on "associations" then make sure if everything is checked ther and press "ok".

no it isnt that
the file is already associated with winzip, it even has the winzip symbol next to it

See if this works.

In an explorer window go to: tools/folder options/filetypes and re-associate zip files with winzip there.
