Default [FIXED] - Photoshop keeps freezing?!?!?

OK, so I've been running photoshop cs on my PC for well over 6months and never had a problem..............UNTILL NOW!

everytime I open photoshop it starts to load up and the freezes! I'm pretty noobish when it comes to computer related stuff but I've tried a few things I thought may help.

I've run various anti-spyware scans (didn't think it would help but tyred anyway), I've done a defrag, uninstalled a few of the larger programs I was had. I even uninstalled then re-installed photoshop. but still it keeps freezing. a friend told me that it sounds like I don't have enough ram to run it, but that makes no sense to me as I've been using it for so long without a single problem.

PLEASE HELP ME, all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

hi puritys_pain

Your friend may be right. Although it has been running fine until now, it may be that you have more programs running on your PC than you have had in the past. Let's raise your virtual memory!

Right click on "My Computer" and select properties > advanced tab > Performance settings button > advanced tab > hit the "change" button at the bottom > put a dot next to "System managed size" and press the "set" button. Select ok and re-boot. now try and open CS after your re-boot.

I gave that a go, sadly it'd doesn't seem to change anything............

about me running more programs; I have nothing else open and haven't really installed anything but when I open up the windows task manager there seem to be a whole heap of things running. I'm not much of a whizz so I don't know if that normal.

I have one other question. I always thought that ram was a perminant thing and always stayed at the same amount unless you physically added or removed it. am I wrong? can it become permanently used up?..................and if it can, would it be covered by my computers warranty?
