Do you get this error when trying to play music or a video? Or right when you open it up?

Can I add my own WMP10 problem here too? instead of making a new thread? If yes: When I close the player while its playing it stays for quite some time in the memory, so that when I try to run another video next, it doesnt run. I have to press stop first, then exit the player and then select the other vid. Is there any way to avoid this?

I am unable to start the program, as the error does happen on startup, with WMP or with anything using WMP

For your question, remove and re-install WMP 10, or use another program, if possible.

Have you tired your own advice? " removing and reinstalling WMP? is there any more information you can give us as to the error? If you could right clcik on my computer...then click on manage... then click the little + by event viewer and click on applications and find an error made by WMP (it will be in red or yellow) and jot it down here we would be better to assist you. Here is a screenshot of where it should be
