Thumbs up How To: Protect your email address from SPAM.

It is nice to have a new email address, a new mailbox all so clean and tidy. Nut that does not last for long does it? Before you know it you are being bombarded with around 20-30 SPAM's per day.

I had an email address that i created 7 years back and have been using it ever since but had to give up on it after accepting defeat. I got 100 SPAM per day and I could not deal with it any more. so sadly I had to change my email address.
But this time I made sure to take all the preventive measures in order to protect myself from SPAM.

The anti-SPAM procedures do not work any more, such as mark that email as SPAM and it will also go to the Trash folder without even notifying you. But those were the good old days. Now spammers have become more aggressive in their techniques and you will get SPAM no matter what.

Why Can't We Block or Blacklist SPAM??

Like I mentioned above SPAMMERS are becoming more and more aggressive. So once you are indexed by a SPAM BOT there is no way you can escape them or ever be removed from their list.
Now just for an example a very very common SPAM is the selling of Viagra drugs.
Some of the ways in which you can block this email is by either marking their email or proxy as SPAM and that email will directly go to the Trash folder next time without even notifying you, but spammers use around 1000+ email addresses over 1000+ proxies, so its nearly impossible to blacklist them all.

The other method is to use a word filter. Which is to tell your programs to block emails containing the word Viagra. But thats not possible either as there are 600,426,974,379,824,381,952 ways to spell Viagra. Spammers use a variation of the word in every email they send. To see the list of 600,426,974,379,824,381,952 ways to spell Viagra please refer to This page

How Spammers Work | How do they get your email address:

WWW Robots (also called wanderers, spiders, crawlers, or bots) are programs that crawl the Web continually retrieving linked pages. When a spammer's bot visits your website, blog, forum, etc, all pages and sites linked to it will be searched looking for email addresses.

Now suppose you have posted your email address in any public space such as a blog or a forum, your email gets immediately picked up by the SPAM BOTS and no-one can save you now

How to protect yourself from SPAM-BOTS:

First off never give your email to websites you do not trust. Usually the Banners flashing " Congratulations You have won 1 Million Dollars"or something similar. On that banner they will tell you that in order to get this cash prize all you have to do is enter you email address and press submit. This is a major NO-NO. These websites never let you even see the cash they promise (that was a no brainer) and sell your email address to SPAM companies.

Secondly never and I mean never post your email in public forums or blogs. But if you feel that you really HAVE to post your email address then do it in a manner so that the SPAM-Bots do not recognize your email address. Foe example instead of writing your email address like this: example@gmail.com
You can write it in the following variations:
example [@] gmail.com
example [at] gmail.com
example [at] gmail [dot] com

These are the formats the SPAM BOTS cannot recognize and thus cannot harvest.

What do ya guys think about inserting an gif with the email address instead of a writen one? Of course there is always a danger that someone has disabled pictures on their browser, but that is quite unusual right?
