Default Folding At Home

Have you heard of Folding At Home? If not, check out the Wikipedia entry:

Folding@home - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It is a very interesting concept that I finally decided to get in on. I doesn't reduce the performance of my computer, but I did find one glitch. It causes Halo to minimize when I try to play it...but I just close it when I'm ready to play.

Anyways, if you're interested in joining the project, please use my team #84992. I wanna see how big of a team I can get.

I've created a manual on how to configure Folding at Home for those who don't know. If you tell your friends or family, you could send them my PDF for easy instructions. The PDF manual can be found on my website under the "Folding At Home" link.

PS, I don't think you'll show up under my Team until your computer submits its first WU (work unit). My first work unit won't be completed for at least another 4 days. Same thing with personal stats, won't show up until your first Work Unit is submitted.

Default Re: Folding At Home

I have successfully created a installer for the Non-Graphical console version of Folding At Home, for those who are computer illiterate.

Download the Zip file and double-click on the batch file called "Install Console Client". You can delete the unzipped folder when finished. Restart afterwords.

I cannot make the ZIP available on the offline version of my website, but I can have it on my online (laptop) version. I will leave it online all day for the rest of today and tonight.

As indicated, it is Non-Graphical and completely silent. If you want to check on your progress, navigate to "C:\Program Files\Folding At Home" and double-click the file called MyFolding

I applaud you on taking it upon yourself to help others!

It's a pity that I'm already running BOINC (helping with World Community Grid), or I would have joined.
