Things are steadily going downhill. The comp forze and I restarted it. When I went to open Firefox, it said:

Close Firefox
Firefox is already running but is not responding. To open a new window you must first close the existing firefox process or restart your system

Well, I went into the task manager and there is NO firefox process running so I restarted. And would you believe it? It happened again so I'm having to use Windblows internet explorer.

OK update, I ran chkdsk after finding out some lock file was corrupt so Firefox works again but still no video games

now what games are the problem: installed games or online games or both?

What is exactly happening when you run the game?

They're all installed games: Wolfenstein, BF2142, Call of Duty

WHen I go to start them up one of two things happens. I get a gray screen with the hourglass mouse icon. I can move the mouse but nothing happens. Or, only the top hal;f of the screen is gray and I can see the bottom half of the opening page of the game (new game, join network, etc).

I've tried running a couple other large apps like Rhino and Autocad and they both work fine. The only common denominator I can think of is that the games change the screen rez when they launch.
