Default My Documents Problem

Hello,

When I try accessing a folder in my documents I get a windows explorer error. The error reports says the following:

AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2894 ModName: divxdec.ax
ModVer: 5.2.1.1335 Offset: 00003c18

I believe this has to do with a video I downloaded. Before posting, I followed the general instructions before posting your hijack this log. I ran AVG antispyware 7.5, Super Anti spyware, all in safe mode with hidden files showing and system restore off. I also ran CC cleaner and even scanned my computer using AVG free (in normal mode); AVG free did not find any threats. Also the scan reports where saved in safe mode and I cannot find them while running windows normally.

Any help will be appreciated,

While I still think it cannot hurt to have your log looked at...
by a Security Team member--
that file comes back as a DivX Video Codec... there have been some reports of fake codecs causing problems lately. Whether that is one of those-- I do not know.
If you installed and then uninstalled DivX Video player or codecs for that format-- remnants could be left behind-- causing file-format conflicts.

Thanks for your input.

I have not installed Divx Video player. The only video players I have are windows media player and real audio. As for video codecs, I have recently installed a few video codec packs , such as K-lite codec pack, that I had from a while ago. Although I don't think the problem is from here because I just started having troubles last night, right after downloading a few videos via utorrent.

I should also mention that when I go to run > netstat, it won't let me see what is running. The screen starts and then quickly disappears. I don't know if this is related, but since my hijack this log is posted here I'd figure I would say something about it.

-Thanks

hello fcoman....think you may have picked something up along the way.

Go here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix
Follow the instructions for ComboFix, then paste the results along with a new HJT log.

Thanks,

v
