Default Help Again

I just returned from a trip and found my anti-virus software not working and my computer acting up. I have attached a HiJack This log file. When I run scans, everything keeps coming back clean.

Default Re: Help Again

hello jlboyle.....got somem minor stuff to fix.

You may want to print these out. please close all other applications, start hjt again, click 'perform system scan only', place a tick next to the following and click 'fix checked'

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbar...p=ZCxdm878YYUS
O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.exe.imgfarm.com/images/noc...aniaFWBInitial Setup1.0.0.15-3.cab

Next, start > run > appwiz.cpl and remove everything that says either mywebsearch or wildtangent.

then Go here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix
Follow the instructions for ComboFix, then paste the results along with a new HJT log.

Thanks,

v

Download LSPFix.exe

Instructions for using LSPFix
  1. Double click on LSPFix.exe to run it.
  2. Once running, you will be required to tick the disclaimer - "I know what I'm doing".
  3. You'll find a windows with 2 columns. In the left column which is labeled 'Keep', click once to select the entry:
    • nwprovau.dll
  4. Then click on the arrow pointing to the right, >>.
This will move the entry to the right column labeled 'Remove'
Click the Finish button to complete the fix.

Reboot, post a new combo log and a new hjt log, and let me know how the rig is running.

Thanks,

v

V,
I have followed the instructions and posted the logs below. I am still unable to reinstall my anti-virus software but, I am wondering if it will be effective anyway. Do you have any suggestions on a good program to use?

Thank You,
Jolene

what a/v are you using? Log looks clean, btw.

I use avg, and the link is in my signature. Dunno if that still works though, haven't checked it in a while. Another good free one is avast; that's gathering a lot of users who swear by it.

thanks,

v
