Default question regarding ComboFix.exe

Sorry if my questions seem silly but I really don't know a lot about computers.

I was told, in another thread, to download ComboFix and run a log. So I found the link
HTML Code:
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe
and was dragging in the text file as told and some boxes popped up.

First it said something about how it shouldn't be done unsupervised etc. But it also said that ComboFix would, if I recall correctly, restart the computer and make the changes itself? And that most computers don't make it through this process....

Is this what is supposed to pop up?

I didn't want to run it and then realize I had done the wrong thing.

I would greatly appreciate any advice you can give.

Thanks

Default Re: question regarding ComboFix.exe

HJT and/or Combo fix-- are powerful + specialized tools for spyware removal
They should only be used under supervision of a qualified Security Ananlyst.

You could damage your Windows installation-- if you don't know what to look for and fix.
PS if you started a thread elsewhere-- you should go back there-- even if to close the thread-- the person trying to help you is"stranded"

That is what is supposed to happen. If you are talking about the thread that Pancake is helping you with, follow his instructions. He must have been busy with all the threads and forgot to give you the link for ComboFix. Post the logs back in that thread and then Pancake or someone can assist you easier.
