Hi Pancake and madmatt2006. Thank you both for jumping in for help. To madmatt2006, I checked the BIOS and no problem there but a good point though as I didn't think of it. To Pancake I ran the fix as you suggested, and also installed Clocksync. Can't say for sure if it worked or not as the date change business happened randomly, it can go a whole day with no change at all. I'll let my PC sit for few days and will come back with a report. I also included an updated HJT log as requested. Now my next question. Why is this happening and How did it happen in the first place? Is it a hardware problem? or software conflict. As I said I searched and searched on the internet but can't find anyone else with a similar problem. Once again THANK YOU to everyone for assistance.

Hi All. Following on on my last post, a quick report.... no good. Had my PC on for about 3-4 hours. In it working on my PC for about an hour and everything seems fine. Then within the next 2-3 hours it's like my PC watching my move. As soon as I turn my back it'll change date. Adjust it back, came back and still the same. Like I say, no big deal but annoying the hell out of me.

Ok I have an Idea, not sure if this will work?

Sorry Pancake.matt to jumpin.

Have you recently done a system restore? If you have and managed to restore the PC to an earlier time system restore could be the problem.

If you managed to restore PC to an earlier time say to before the PC acctualy had windows installed this can create problems with time and date especialy if the time and date are correct in BIOS.

Then if you have windows disk a repair install may fix the problem. However if it is a problem with the OS I would rather backup all data to disk/floppy/external drive and do a reinstall of OS.

Also when you set time and date on PC do you use the syncronise button?

Change time and date and go to time zone and set up that then go to internet time tab check box to automatic sync with internet time server.use drop down box and select windows.com and click update. Then press apply once it has synced.Press ok.

Hi jelly bean. Welcome to the party and thanks for showing and interest and your help. No I haven't done any system restore in fact never since I had the PC from 2002. My Date/Time is already set to auto sync and had been since I bought the computer. Which is why it puzzle me even more why it happened at all. It would be drastic measure to reinstall OS and try to avoid that as much as possible. Although not impossible. I'm more dreading the reinstalling of all software and resetting up any settings. OUCH. But guess if that's the only way then I'll go down that path but wanted to explore all options including asking the gurus in this forum. Wow... guess what? the time it took for me to type this message the date just changed again!! Freaky!!!!

AHHHHHH,now I got it.Take out BIOS battery take it to local PC shop and buy a new one. They are cheap to buy they are £2-00 in UK.

You need to either take the battery or write down the make and code number from the battery. As all BIOS batterys are diffrent thickness,s and you need the right one.

BIOS batteries should be replaced every 2-3 years.
