After going to recovery console a bunch of files were being checked and set up, after that occurred its asking which portion of the setup program, which prepares microsoft windowso XP to run on my computer. So do i choose; set up windows XP now or to repair a windows XP installation using recovery console or to quit setup without installing windows XP.

Thanks.

Repair.

But before you do that, did you give the sfc.exe a shot in safe mode?

also, repair is just going to dump you at a c prompt, so let's give sfc.exe in safe mode a crack first.

this will replace the ietutil.dll file. What should have happened is that 6.0 should have automatically been reinstalled on this rig. Did this machine ever have 6.0, or is it a new build with 7.0 only?

IEFix Utility - Description

thanks,
