Hi. I'm not quite sure why my pc
cpu usage is now flunctuating up and down to 100%, so much so that I can't run my Nero programs anymore. I'm only a beginner/novice, please bear with me.
The symptoms are:
1)
CPU usage flunctuates while idle up to 100%, and it is between mainly the WUSB54GSC.exe, and the System Idle Process when I look at the Window Task Manager under the Processes tab. WUSB54GSC.exe is my Linksys Wireless Adaptor driver program (not sure if that is what you call it) but it give me that linksys wireless monitor that appears in the system tray and controls my wireless adaptor and how it connects to the my wireless router (also Linksys).
2) Sometimes when I turn off the computer, as windows pops up a warning message, but I can't capture it cause the computer is shutting down, and it say something about my WUSB54GSC.exe "...that it can't write into memory" or it might of said ."...write to Memory error something" I couldn't finish reading it as it disappeared while shutting down. This happens once in a while.
I have a HP Pavillion a1220n computer, Pent 4, 2.4Mhz, 1.5 M
Ram.
Running XP, SP2
Using a wireless adaptor from Linksys WUSB54GSC
Initially when I first saw this type of flunctuation in
CPU Usage when my NERO frozed, I thought it might be a virus/malware so I had runned Norton Antivirus, PCTools SpyDoctor w Antivirus, separately on the computer, never had them installed together at one time. But with each Antivirus program there was no viruses found, lots of cookies, but no viruses. So I had the cookies cleaned via those programs.
Then I switch over to AVAST, and Ad-Aware, which currently run on the computer. No viruses but cookies. Thus clean out the cookies.
Then I thought okay, maybe that error message is telling me that I need to reinstall my WUSB54GSC drivers, so I followed the manufacturers recommendations to unload and reload the driver. I even downloaded from them, the driver files just in case that what I had may of been corrupted by something somehow. But still have the
cpu flunctuations, and it look like system idle process and WUSB54GSC.exe takes turns going up and down to 100% on
CPU Usage.
I also followed the pre-work (except for AVG, since I already had Ad-Aware) (I hope that is okay, if not, let me know and I will download and install that and redo the runs) installed and ran Super AntiSpyware, and CCleaner, got the logs, and ran the HiJack report as well.
So currently I have in my system tray showing:
1)AVAST,
2)the Linksys Wireless monitor,
3) my HP7550 Photosmart printer,
4)Yahoo Messenger (dormant),
5)SuperAntispyware,
6)PCToolsFirewall Plus,
7)Wireless Network Connection and
8)Local Area Connection (unplugged)
Any help would be appreciated. Beats me why it is doing all this. Thank you for looking into this.
