Please forgive me as I am a newbie here, but I read the section on pre-work, but my problem is that my AGV installation is damaged and won't run (I tried uninstalling and re-installing - no luck) and I can't restart in normal mode to run HiJack This.

My computer crashed today, when I tried to restart, it just hangs at the Windows XP screen with the blue status bar. It will restart into safe mode however.

Any suggestions?

Hi welcome to PCHF sounds like some of your system files are damaged. Do you have you XP cd? I suggest doing a repair install and after that reinstall the AVG and continue with the prework.

I'll re-install XP and see what happens.
