Could it be something to do with the HOSTS file?

Well, if there was a problems with the hosts file, I would have expected to affect all of IE. One thing I've noticed about those screen shots, is that if you look to the left of the Yahoo Mail screenshot, you'll see that the images related to advertising have a red X aganst them, meaning that it could not load them from the server, yet still on the left, the folder and shortcut images appear just fine. This is far too selective for IE, and has to be some security software running there. I wonder if you can actually click on those red X's mhd? If you can't then the links to these images would have been removed also.

I'm not personally a big fan of Norton, but I noticed you have a "Fraud Monitoring" toolbar. I've not seen this before. Have you tried switcing it off? You said that Norton has been working fine since you installed it. It's possible that this new feature with preventing access to avertising flash and images was part of their recent automated updates.

hi.i tried clicking on the red x pics on the left of the page.they open a new IE and they appear fine.it opens the page quickly like any other page and nothing is missing.no red x's(i am not sure they were any add's on the page though!).this fraud monitoring toolbar by norton has been there for a while since it was installed and didnt come with an automated update.anyway,i will try ur suggestion and stop fraud monitor by norton.i have now tried it on IE and nothing changed.still the ad is missing and there are red x's.it is exactly the same.i have also tried mozilla firefox browser, this doesnt use fraud monitor by norton and the same problem is there.please see attachment.thx all.mhd

Hey mhd, the automatic update comes as part of the suite.

You should see it under Add/Remove Programs, andshould be listed as "LiveUpdate"?

Are you ok disabling Norton? (Enabling or disabling Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall)
