Hello,

I'm trying to recover my computer to working order after a pretty nasty spyware attack. I think I've mostly gotten rid of the majority of the trojan/spyware that had struck my system, but I'm still having small glitches.

For instance, I can't get msconfig to properly respond anymore. I had turned it to "custom setting" earlier today, but now, each time I try fixing something on it, it states that I don't have permission and may need to enter an administrator account. I tried fixing this in safemode as "administrator", but I got the same error. I had recently installed spybot search and destroy, so I don't know if that is the culprit.

Also, I reinstalled internet explorer, but it keeps bringing up Customize Your Settings and won't actually apply the settings I choose. I think the phishing filter is damaged or something...

Anyway, I found this by a scan from hijackthis and would like to know if anyone can spot any problems that I can't.

I run McAfee and only installed a free version of Symantec from my work's page as a back-up for my scans while I was working on fixing my infestation. That is not an active program for me and is slotted for uninstallation.

It all looks good.Just fix these and your done..

Ah, good. Still, I'm having minor program quirks that shouldn't be occurring, such as the msconfig refusing to allow me to edit anything. I suppose I can ignore that element since I can edit what programs start by using other programs. There's also the fact that IE is buggy and doesn't respond to "enable or disable plug-ins" when I click on it. Though once again, that's something I can work around in the internet options. It also concerns me that the yellow bar that used to show up in IE no longer appears.

Overall, these are just quirks that I can't seem to be able to figure out how to fix.

All I can suggest you do now is to go to one of our other forums as they may know more on how to fix those problems...
