I apologize for the delay.

Delete the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Panda Security

I like AVG FREE for a free anti-virus program. There are other good ones like Avast, Anti-Vir.

Next, follow the steps below to clean out your infected System Restore points.

1.Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2.In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
3.Click to select the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click to select the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.
4.Click OK.
5.When you receive the following message, click Yes to confirm that you want to turn off System Restore:You have chosen to turn off System Restore. If you continue, all existing restore points will be deleted, and you will not be able to track or undo changes to your computer.

Do you want to turn off System Restore?
After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box closes.

Reboot

1.Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2.In the System Properties dialog box, click the System Restore tab.
3.Click to clear the Turn off System Restore check box. Or, click the Turn off System Restore on all drives check box.
4.Click OK.

After a few moments, the System Properties dialog box closes.

Please post back with your progress/results.

Thanksl.

Glad to hear from you! I have done what you suggested and installed BitDefender; I am thinking about purchasing a licence unless you recommend another product.

BitDefender reports indicate that everything is normal. We can now navigate normally from one session to another; no more 15-minute reboots. So, everything seems fine.

One strange thing remains though. IE7 worked for me but not for the other users; same thing for MSN and Hotmail. I uninstalled IE7; IE6 now works for everyone as well as MSN and Hotmail.

We had been using IE7 without problems for quite a while though... and I am now unable to reinstall it. Installation keeps aborting.

I suspect that there is still something hiding somewhere...

Thanks again!

After downloading Internet Explorer 7's installer, disconnect from the internet.

Reboot in SAFE MODE (Tap F8 during startup)

Disable Bitdefender.

Install Internet Explorer 7

Hopefully that will work. If not, reboot normally and post the result here.

Thanks.

Are you logged in as administrator when trying to install IE7?
