Default slow comp = possible spyware?
my computer is unusually slow, especially during gameplay with my 2 most played games : Crysis and Total War 2

What happens is the game will play at a relatively smooth frame-rate for about 30 seconds, followed by about 3 minutes of extremely choppy almost unplayable gameplay for about 3 minutes, this cycle wil repeat for the duration of the game.

I have a feeling it is due to spyware/adware which i cannt detect or cannot delete.

What is the best method to deleting spyware? Also, what program offers the best "clean"

My computer is nothing to walk home about but it is decent

p4 3.0ghz
1gig ddr
radeon x800 256mb pci-e

it played the games at a decent framerate pre-infection, now how can i restore it to this without reformatting my HD?

need to get you onto the latest version of hjt, and welcome to the forums.

1. Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

2. CLICK HERE to download the HijackThis Installer:
  1. Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  2. Double-click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
  3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
  4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
  5. Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
  6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad.
  7. Click on "Edit -> Select All" then click on "Edit -> Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  8. Come back here to this thread and paste the log in your next reply, along with the smitfraudfix log.
  9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.


You may delete the older version once you have successfully downloaded and installed the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2
