[Fixed] Problems w/ pop-ups
I just got a brand new hard drive after the old one failed. Immediately after setting everything up (installing the OS), I installed Norton that came with it, since I would be able to use it up until February for free. Well, Norton failed me miserably, and now I have an annoying pop-up problem.
These pop-ups always open in Internet Explorer even though I use Firefox. I've already used AVG, Avast, SuperAntiSpyware and CCleaner as well as the following log for Hijack This.
I'm posting the SAS log here as well. My AVG log is completely clean. The first one I ran did not save, so I ran a second time to obtain a log, but everything was cleaned by then.
Thanks for the help, and I'll check out the afterwork section. I'm pretty stupid when it comes to firewalls.
*EDIT: Forgot to mention that I haven't been visiting any sites that I don't normally visit. I used AVG and Avast in the past, and they would work wonderfully. I also make sure my Windows firewall is turned on at all times. I'm guessing it's because Norton didn't catch it at first and Avast cannot purge the files.
I really need to learn to make a system airtight.

Re: Problems w/ pop-ups
No worries. It's a minor inconvenience, so I don't mind waiting a bit.
Oh, another thing I forgot to mention: It only acts up when I have my browser open.

Re: Problems w/ pop-ups
hello, and welcome to the forums.....you've got a minor infection, let's see if we can fix it at one shot:
Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.- Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
- When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
thanks,
v

Re: Problems w/ pop-ups
You may want to print these out. please close all other applications, start hjt again, click 'perform system scan only', place a tick next to the following and click 'fix checked'
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Uahe] "C:\DOCUME~1\Neko\APPLIC~1\YMBOLS~1\regedit.ex e" -vt yazb
reboot, and post a new log, please.....hopefully that will do it.
thanks,
