Default Hijack log blues
Hello, I am wondering if someone on this forum would be willing to check out my Hijack log. I used this forum once before a couple years ago and you were wonderful. Unfortunately, my IE is spontaneously shutting down when I am trying to work and I am running slow. I think my husband downloaded some kind of free antivirus software that is probably more harm than good

I have Zone Alarm and it says I am protected. I also have AVG antivirus, it says I am fully protected as well.

I have a Dell 8300 and am running XP Media edition and just recently downloaded the most current version of IE (for some reason IE was gone form my computer all together) I generally use Firefox , but have to use IE for certain applications.

My log is posted below. I alos kept all of the fixer programs you guys had me downlaod if they may be needed (about buster, cw shredder, killbox, etc.)

Hello,

You can delete all the old programs from before (they are very out-of-date).

You have 2 anti-virus programs running (Yahoo and AVG). Running more than one anti-virus program at a time can cause many issues. Please decide which you would like to keep and uninstall the other one.

Click Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs
Uninstall all "java" items

Install the newest version from here

Post a new HijackThis log (Please post the log as an attachment if you can)

Sorry, but I am unsure how to post as an attachment. I removed both antivirus programs and bought Zonealarm security suite to try and simplify things, but it is saying that I cannot install Zonealarm because it is detecting CA (Computer Associates) Antivirus and it is a conflict- however I cannot find it in my add/remove programs to delete it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

The CA anti-virus is actually Yahoo anti-virus. It appears Yahoo did not remove as well as it should have so we will go at it a different way.

Run HijackThis and check the following:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WFIPS] C:\DOCUME~1\Converse\LOCALS~1\Temp\~AceTemp\!!!app z IPhider\ip hider.exe -autoboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CaAvTray] "C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Antivirus\CAVTray.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CAVRID] "C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Antivirus\CAVRID.exe"
O23 - Service: CAISafe - Computer Associates International, Inc. - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Antivirus\ISafe.exe

Click FIX CHECKED

Delete the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Antivirus

Finish installing ZoneAlarm and post a new HijackThis log.
