Angry Dying computer

I currently have a P4 2ghz laptop with 2gb memory running windows XP.
About two weeks ago the machine started taking in excess of 15 minutes to boot up and shut down.

Whenver i tried starting any program it would take a very long time to start or to terminate.
This is especially true of Explorer.
I did some research on your site and followed the instruction in the prework document.
however i forgot to save the log from SuperantiSpyware, however please find the logs from AVG and Hijackthis attached.

Help, i am about to jump.

Regards,
Jamrock67

Hello jamrock67 and welcome to PCHF,

Click Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs
Uninstall NoAdware4

Delete the following folder:
C:\Program Files\NoAdware4

Disable your antivirus program and go here (BitDefender Free Online Virus Scan) and run an online scan with BitDefender (you will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan). When the ActiveX Control has loaded, click on "Click here to scan" and grab a coffee.

When BitDefender completes the scan, select the "Detected Problems" tab. Click on "Click here to export scan". Save the file as an HTML to your Desktop. Then click on the saved file and allow it to open with your browser. Go to Edit - Select All then copy/paste that log back here. Post back and let us know what it found (attach the log).

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the response.
I followed your instructions and the log from bitdefender is attached.

I saw an icon for adware alert in my control panel and there is also adware alert running in my add/remove programs list. When i try to remove it from the programs list i cannot.

The machine is a slow as ever.

Download RogueRemover from the link below.
Malwarebytes.org

Unzip to a convenient location such as C:\RogueRemover.
Navigate to the folder you unzipped the files to and double click on the file named RogueRemover.exe.
Finally, select Scan and the program will walk you through the remaining steps.

Post a fresh HijackThis log.

Followed your instructions, got a message that RogueRemover did not detect any items.
I however noticed that AdwareAlert is not one of the rogue programs listed in the rogueremover database.
