Can someone please help I am getting very frustrated.

I am having problems with my computer connecting to the internet. When I log on the internet will work for about 5 minutes before it stops and says ‘your internet connection has been reset’. I am running on broadband and have only had this problem for about the past week. The only way I can resolve this is by restarting my computer and logging back on, but the same problem will happen again.

I have checked my IP address before and after this happens and nothing changes, my conection status also tells me I am still connected.

I have run many programmes such as Adaware – superantispyware – windows defender – spybot s&d – avg antispyware and ccleaner. These are all have the latest updates and has cleared many items but I still have this connection problem. i have run in normal mode and safe mode.
I have also tried a couple of online scans such as trend micro, but these do not works as my connection keeps dropping out.

I have uploaded my Hijackthis log – none of it makes sense to me, so any help is very much appreciated

hello chambers, and welcome to the forums.....the log is clean, have you contacted you isp about this issue? Also, is the pc on a network or is it standalone?

If it's on a network, it could be a dhcp error; if it's a standalone pc, then I would definitely start with the ISP.

Its a standalone computer, connected to my ntl settop box.

I havent done so yet, thought it may be my machine, i will contact them and see how i get on..

let me know what they say.....the ntl could be causing issues. From what I've read, they can be a bit persnickety at times.
