Default HIjackThis help/ pc runs slow

I am new to this forum but from what I have read I went and downloaded HIjackThis and now I need to know if there are problems or not. To give a brief history:
Dell P4 2.8ghz
1024 ram
60 G HD %50 pct full

My computer has just about always been slow but worse over the last 6 months. I have ran every syware killer known to man, reg cure, cccleaner, degfrag all the time. no help. I got rid of norton and went to nod32, still slow. I installed another fan becasue I thought it might be hot, not help. I have ran through about evry troubleshooter I can find. It doesn't boot real slow, just slow response. I have DSL but it is slow opening regular programs as wll. I hope this report helps or any other suggestions are welcome also. Thanks,

Default Re: HIjackThis help/ pc runs slow

Hello, and welcome to PCHF.

You have two anti-virus (AV) programs running on your computer:
Windows OneCare Live and NOD32

Running two AVs simultaneously can cause conflicts and affect system performance negatively (which may be a factor why your PC is running slow).

You also have ViewPoint toolbar installed on your computer. ViewPoint Toolbar will hijack your search queries and also transmits non personally identifiable information back to their servers. ViewPoint toolbar is however, optional to remove.

If you wish to uninstall ViewPoint toolbar, close all windows before going to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Find the ViewPoint toolbar entry and click the Change/Remove button.

Once the uninstallation is complete, restart the computer and post a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

I just downloaded that MS Onecare yesterday but I will uninstall it. I will also uninstall the viwpoint when I get home. It has been running real slow for months though. I will post a new hijackthis as soon as I can.

Thank you

Default Re: HIjackThis help/ pc runs slow

I was thinking of a few more thigs I have tried. I did a memory scan from Microsoft and found no problems. I reloaded Windows XP over top of what I had, not a clean install. I have run reg cure and like I said all kinds of other programs. I have run speedupmypc. Nothing seems to help. My PC came with 512 M ram and I bought 2 512's and made it a Gig. I really thought that would help but didn't see much if any change. Here is my new hijackthis. Thanks

for some reason my file didn't attach so here it is:

Default Re: HIjackThis help/ pc runs slow

Hmmm...under normal circumstances your computer shouldn't run as slow as you depicted...especially with a gig of RAM. (Mine's still 512MB btw )

Have you uninstalled OneCare yet? There are still remnants as indicated by your HijackThis log.

Then download BitDefender RootkitUncover and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click the bitdefender_antirootkit-BETA2 icon
  • Review the licence agreement and check the I accept the licence agreement box
  • Then click Next > and Scan
  • Allow the program to scan your computer - please be patient as it may take some time
  • Once the scan has completed, click Next >
  • If any items are found, please attach the details into this thread along with your next reply.

Default Re: HIjackThis help/ pc runs slow

I uninstalled onecare and restarted the computer before the last hijackthis report. It also shows some symantec stuff and I have tried to delete all of it as well. I ran bitdefender and it didn't show any files. I am really at my wits end. My 6 year old computer is more reliable than my 1 1/2 year old computer. Any other sujestions are more than welcome.

Thanks
