heyya sir trews...hope all is well....

first off, you don't want dueling antivirus apps on your pc....they can argue relentlessly about who does what, and in the end, it's possible that both will do neither. So I'd dump either McAffee or avast, whichever you feel least comfy with (or whichever you didn't pay for). As for the hjt this, looks pretty clean.

Go to start > run > appwiz.cpl and remove anything that says 'mywebsearch'. It's entirely possible that there will be nothing there by that name. Then hit the hjt entries below.

Run hjt, close all other windows, click 'perform system scan only', place a tick next to the following and click 'fix checked':

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbar...p=ZCxdm492YYUS
O16 - DPF: {15589FA1-C456-11CE-BF01-00AA0055595A} - http://w4s2.work4sure.com/c/ge/w4sgeen10.exe
O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.exe.imgfarm.com/images/noc...aniaFWBInitial Setup1.0.0.15.cab

reboot, and post a new log.

thanks,

v

Hey chiaz! Thanks for the look...

As for the dual antivirus? Avast is really the only one that is doing anything. I keep the McAfee for the Firewall. I guess I need to find that seperate disk to keep it as it runs the Security center. Apparently they are tied together and if I take one, it takes both. Or so it seems. I'll check again. Off to do your suggestions.

Ahh geez!! Sorry valis! Talk about feeling like really .. just been that kind of week, really.

I had hoped that I was keeping things fairly well cleaned up in here, so thank you for confirming that. I can imagine that even the most careful user will get something from time to time.

*sigh* Ok... ran hjt... only found the 08, not the other 2 016's... and here's the new log. Got rid of the McAfee as well... at least on a regular un-install.. I know there is a lot more to check on that...still have the firewall and Avast is updated (daily)
