Default [Closed] MBS scam

Every time I log on I get a demand for money from a company called MicroBillingSystems for a fee for subscribing to porn site - I didn't do it - honest! The "bill" is displayed for ten minutes and cannot be moved, delected or minimised. Nothing simple I have tried can remove this nuisance. I have complained to the communications regulator - so small revenge. I hope it gives them lots of work.

Any suggestions for removing this rubbish? Alanc

Hello, and welcome to PCHF.

First of all, do not pay anything! I know you are smart enough not to do that, but I have seen some people pay to get rid of such nusiances, which is plain foolish.

I'm quite positive that your computer is infected, please follow the instructions in the Prework as Athlon directed and post back with the logs. With any hope, the problem should be fixed; but if it's not we'll take it from there.

Thanks for your help, I'm not too confident with computers - I just use them. I've tried some simle solutions and today the dreaded "bill" hasn't appeared. As you suggested I've no intention of paying these people a penny. When I called them they threatened to pass my debt onto a collecting agency, is it possibible they could find out my name and address? Regards Alan C

Yes, I've seen this before. Do NOT I repeat, pay them a single penny. Whether they know your name and address is a thing, but they have no legal grounds to charge you for something that you did not sign up for. I would advise to stop all correspondance with them, or pass their number on to the authorities for further action to be taken against these scums.

Thanks for your advice, I've sent a complaint to the internet regulator in the UK. Regards Alanc

This is being discussed at Malware Removal where I am training and you need to cancel it immediatly. If you don't cancel it you will be legally binded to pay. I would give you a link to the thread but, you must be in the University to view it.

Thanks,
Adam
