I ran a windows defender scan, spysweeper scan, activescan, adaware, avg antivirus and the only thing found was in the panda activescan was a firewall leaktest.exe from PC Flank: Make sure you're protected on all sides. the activescan just deleted the file I think.
Sounds good.

also on the start menu a pop up sort of box comes up saying I have installed new programs which i had done about a week ago.
Maybe a screenshot on this?

How to get rid of new programs installed being highlighted in your start menu:

Go to the Control Panel>>Taskbar and Start menu>>
On the Start menu tab click on Customize and then go to the Advanced tab and uncheck the highlighted new programs box.
Click on Ok Apply and Ok again.

You can also right click on Start. Choose properties and then customize and follow the steps from there.

Hi all, I just joined the group after reading this thread.
Scuz my ignorance but, what creates/maintains this SecTaskMan folder and is it a vulnerable spot for nasties? AFAIK this folder has always been there (HP bundled) and again, AFAIK, the only thing added since was iefdmcks.dll.q_16304001_q and ini, which is part of the free download manager per googled consensus and not a virus. A reply would be most appreciated. Thanks again
