Default [Resolved] Problems loading some websites

I have a problem loading some websites. A big example is with "download.com". When I search or try to download things, I get redirected to another site. If I search ANYTHING like avg, spyware, or even something random like flowers, I get sent to this site that won’t load and the initial part of the url is "dw.com.com". For example when I searched flowers on "download.com", I got redirected to "http://dw.com.com/redir?usraction=37&oId=2001-20_4-0&siteId=4&destUrl=http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html%3Ftg%3Ddl-20%26qt%3Dflowers%26tag%3Dsrch" and the browser says the page cannot be displayed. This happens in IE, firefox, and opera. Any ideas why it is redirecting to dw.com.com and not loading? Could it be spyware, firewall problem or a virus? I run spyware removers, zone alarm firewall, and I have AVG free edition so I don’t know what to think about this. Any ideas? Also, if I search in yahoo "avg free edition download.com" I get to the download page of it on "download.com" that time as if I had searched on "download.com" itself, but then when I click "Download now" the redirection happens again. Some other websites don’t work either. I tried going to "paretologic.com" on my computer and it did not work, while other websites were working, and then I tried the same website on another computer in my house and it worked. Another example is that "www.sparknotes.com" works, but "sparknotes.com" does not, while it did elsewhere. I am new to this website so I hope I didn’t do anything wrong. Thanks for your help in advance! And sorry if my explanation is confusing. My hijackthis log is in the attatchments

About things I have done:
I ran AVG antispyware and it did not find anything (I posted the log anyway)
I ran spyware doctor and it found Elitemedia Pop64 and Trojan.StartPage.GEN which i deleted
I ran Super anti spyware and that did not find anything
I ran panda active scan and that did not find anything
I ran SpyAudit which is related to spysweeper and that did not find anything
I ran trendmicro housecall and that found one thing which I deleted and it also found 2 microsoft word vulnerabilities which i did not do anything for
But about Spybot Search and Destroy, I don't know if this is important but when I run spybot search and destroy, there are two cases of something called "Windows.Redirected.Hosts" and I am unable to delete them whether I am in safe mode, normal mode, or on startup. I thought it might be related because of the "redirected" part.

Finally, just recently I have begun to turn off the DNS Client in windows startup because when it is on, my svchost.exe cpu usage goes to 100% and I was told to turn off the DNS client and it worked. Is there a reason for this svchost.exe to hog the cpu? and is it bad if I keep the DNS client off? (I did this after I had the problem anyway though...)

Sorry about the long post and thank you for your help in advance!

log looks okay, just some abandoned files that need to be cleaned up. Run hjt, click 'perform system scan only', close all other windows, place a tick next to the following, and click 'fix checked'

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Uninstall BitDefender Online Scanner v8 - {85d1f590-48f4-11d9-9669-0800200c9a66} - %windir%\bdoscandel.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - %windir%\Network Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing)

For the websites, let's try the following:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

Also, what website aren't opening, and what errors are you getting?

thanks,

v

Thanks for the fast reply! I ran the ATF Cleaner. I explained some of the websites that don't work in the original post. They just seem to be random websites because many work. Another example is "www.limewire.com" that does not load. On firefox it says "Problem loading page" and then it says it is unable to connect. I can go to "www.download.com" and everything loads, but like i said, when I search, I get redirected to a site that does not load.

do any of them load in IE? And fwiw, sites like limewire and other p2p sites are breeding grounds for viruses and spyware; you go there, you WILL get infected, it's just a matter of how bad. I've seen it range from minor to dead machine, unfixable. Go there at your own risk, in other words.

bugsey, that link didn't work for me....whatcha pointing at?
