HEY, CAN ANYONE HELP MEEE!!!

About a week or 2 ago all my videos (avi, mpg etc...) have stopped working, on some the audio is still there, and there is a blank image, i have tried downloading codecs etc... no joy. Also seems to crash my pc when i try and watch some videos. Any ideas?

I suspect you may have a malware problem-- or that should be eliminated first... I will bring this to the attention of our security team.

hey beecher, and welcome to pchf. If you could click on the prework link in my signature, you should follow all the steps, and you'll end up with two logs; an AVG log and and HJT log. If you could save both of those two your desktop and then attach them to your next post, I'll be more than happy to parse your logs for you and at least get the malware sorted out.

The video stuff I leave to experts like ih8bills.

I did google Gary Kildall after seeing your sig --interesting and sad tale.

Anyway -- I do think he has a malware issue-- and I'm not HJT qualified yet.

kildall was a fascinating read....really showed the truth about gates.....I could read that stuff forever, the history of computing.

and yes, that was most definitely a compliment....we all have our areas of specialty, mine is more security-minded, yours is everything else.

Video stuff and me don't play well. I'm trying to figure out how to get vhs to my pc, but don't tell me, as noodling it out is 90% of hte fun.....
