Default [Pending] PC infected with Alcra Worm

well after noticing my limewire doing wierd things (namely opening back up autmatucally right after i close it) i decided to investigate so i went to the limewire page and it just so happens my problem was listed in the FAQs and says that Worm is the cause of the problem... so now that i know what the problem is how would you guys suggest i find then worm and rid myself of it? (yes i know i can have norton scan my whole comp and then get rid of it that way but that takes hours usually (same goes for just about any anti virus scan) and norton may not be updated to teh point wher eit would detect it... i also tried an actuve scan which stopped at like 90% and never finished,,, wghich im guessing is because of the worm... so what would you guys suggest? preferably a fast solution but if i have to use the solutaion thattakes hours im more than willing to do that too.

Hello Ant,

Please can you re-read PCHF Rules. We do not support the use of P2P software. P2P is normally used to download illegal video's, music and software.. and a breeding ground for virus's.

If you follow PCHF Prework on my signature, and post both AVG and HJT logs back here, I'm sure a member of security will analyse them and post a fix for you.

Agree with madmonkey completely.

Just making you aware Antoine, that any sort of virus infection - will always take a few hours to fix. There is no such thing as an easy fix - it is either done properly, or not at all...we only do thigs properly here

Limewire is a breeding ground for computer viruses, and even if you don't "download" a virus...you are still vulnerable. I strongley suggest you uninstall limeware...otherwise this problem will just come back...some day.

definitely looking forward to seeing both teh AVG log and the HJT logfile....and as Garhar and Madmonkey said, beware of P2P; they are absolute breeding grounds for all sorts of junk.
