I have just done a scan in AVG Antivirus free edition and it found shell32.dll.

I googled shell32.dll and i found a site saying that it might be a trojan. Yesterday i did full scans with AVG antivirus,spybot, windows defender, ad aware se, and spyware doctor and nothing was found. So this has definately happened today. I had a lot of windows updates today including security ones and a lot of office updates, and February 2007 cumulative time zone update for Microsoft Windows operating system.

I am with running windows Xp home edition sp2

I have had no problems at all with the computer and nothing at all seems different.

what is it on hijack this--do a system scan and save a log file--i then post that log file?

Shell32 is an important system file although it seems your one has became infected. We can check for you if you post up your logs from Prework. (look in my PCHF prework link)

I just found this AVG Free Forum :: Other Issues :: Change message appearing??? and the guy on there said somthing about windows updates, and i had a lot of them about 3 hours ago.
