Your system should take longer to load than usual after running FixWareout. But is the problem occuring repeatedly?

Please run FixWareout again. Follow through all the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.

Next uninstall the following from Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs, if found:
Web Rebates
(An online incentive marketing platform that rewards loyal members with incentives based on the customers' online activity. Incentives are in the form of online rebates (web rebates) that accrue in your account and then you receive a check on a quarterly basis.Resides fairly silently on your system without any icon in the System Tray or toolbar in your browser. However, you may notice popups or a general system slowdown caused by the software.)

AlcxMonitor
(
Realtek AC97 Audio - Event Monitor. "Slyware" file used surreptitiously monitor one's actions. It is not a sinister one, like remote control programs, but it is being used by Realtek to gather data about customers.)

Reboot the computer to safe mode after uninstalling.
PC Hell: How to Start Windows in Safe Mode

Have HijackThis check the following entries, if still present:
O8 - Extra context menu item: Web Rebates. - file://C:\Program Files\WebRebates4\websrebates\webtrebates\toprC0.h tm
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{BABA8992-B751-4EFD-A7BB-E21C48F3A889}: NameServer = 85.255.115.28,85.255.112.130
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{E9E6A8C0-AECF-476C-A781-689E60DA4214}: NameServer = 85.255.115.28,85.255.112.130
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.115.28 85.255.112.130

Close all other windows except HijackThis and press "Fix Checked". Then close HijackThis and restart the computer. You should get back to normal mode automatically.

Lastly search for the following file that may linger on your system and delete it:
c:\temp\webrebates_cdt_installsilent.exe

Rescan with HijackThis and post the new log in your next reply.

I think it worked so I will be forever in your debt. Wolfemole said to hit the thanks button, but I can't seem to find it. Would you be so kind as to direct me to your thanks button so that I may push it?

hey there chiawaikian. Yes this problem happens every time I reboot my computer. It used to take days to come back on, but it's been down to about three hours lately. I will do what you posted and get back with you.

In anyone's posts, you will see a button like this:

Press it, if you will. I think due credit must be given to Pancake as well.

Looking forward to your HijackThis log.

Just hold on for a minute. I think I just caught sight of something.
The PC Detective

Hmm...it seems that we're not all done yet.

Please run HijackThis and check the following entry:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SVCHOSTS] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\PCD\SVCHOST.EXE"
Close all other windows except HijackThis and press "Fix Checked". Then close HijackThis and restart the computer.

Next download Avenger from here:
Swandog46’s Public Tools Page

Open the program. Check the 'Input script manually' option.
Click the Magnifying Glass icon.
In the box that opens, paste this:
Files to delete:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\PCD\SVCHOST.EXE
and click 'Done'

Click the Traffic Light icon to start the program, and OK the prompts to reboot your PC.

Post the Avenger output.txt (which you can find at C:\Avenger\.txt), along with a new HijackThis log.
