I'm afraid I might have a hardware problem, but I'm not sure if it's fixable with software. About 3-5 months ago, I noticed that whenever I would try to watch a video with either Windows Media Player (any vers.) -or- Quicktime, my computer would lag terribly, uncontrollably, and I would have to exit the process through the Processes... tab in the Task Manager. It would take about 5 minutes to get to the Processes tab alone, and another 2 for shutting down the program. It's not the fact that I'm watching a video, as I can watch videos fine on YouTube, and I can also listen to MUSIC fine on Windows Media Player, it's just watching videos that I have trouble with. I have tried re-installing Windows, and that hasn't helped.

I am using a Geforce 6600 video card. Someone please tell me if there's a resolution that I can do without having to go out and buy a different video card, as I would like to save several bucks. :P

everything does seem in order....have you updated your geforce drivers? try doing that and also download latest codecs....if that doesnt work follow the PCHF Prework in my signature and one of the techies here will help you out :-)

Well, here's a HijackThis log, but I don't really want to install AVG. Just more junk I don't really need, since I know it's not virus-related (it still happened about 10-15 minutes after wiping my computer and installing updates).

I also installed the codecs, but that didn't help at all either.
