Default [Closed] Need Help.....

Guys, my microsoft word is going crazy. When I click on it to start up it says that it did not start correctly, and prompts me to start it in safe mode. Either way I choose to go (click yes/no) the computer just freezes up. any suggestions on why word is doing this and how can I fix it. All other programs seem to be working fine, its just word that does this.

Thanks,

Chad

Insert your office cd and do a repair function.

Hi Chad,
I haven't been around in a while, but we usually try to post back a little sooner than this, my most sincere apologies. There could be a number of things that are wrong here. It could be that your word program has become corrupt somehow, it could be a virus or some other RLM (rotton little monster) gumming up the start file.

I would start by doing a repair install of Office, or Word if you have it installed separately. You will need the CD used to install the program.

If that doesn't work, the next thing to do is to check for malware. In which case I would ask you to carefully follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature.

Then post back here with the required logs.

I'll look back soon to see if this helped your problem.

Default Need Help.....

My computer seems to be going haywire. None of the microsoft office suite seems to be working (Word Excell). Also, My norton anti-virus is gone nuts. I can't open it, remove it, or do anything with it. It doesn't even recognize the Norton disc when I put it in the CD drive. Like I stated before in a post a couple of days ago, when I open MS WORD, it prompts me to start in safe mode. Either way I choose the computer locks up and I have to shut it down on the tower. I don't know if I have the Office CD to re-install the office suite so I haven't deleted it, or tried the repair function. Attached is my Pre-Work, so see what you guys can do.. Thank you guys in advance for trying to help me

Chad

I have moved this thread to the HJT logs forum for the security team to check over.

Hello, your logs look alright to me.

I have merged this with your original thread, since both are inter-related.

Hey Guys,

Chad, I am assuming that because you didn't include the SpySweeper log, that it found nothing.

How long ago did you download IE7? Have you downloaded any other software lately?

The problem you are having may have to do with a conflict. Please download RegSupremePro from my signature.

You didn't mention whether or not you did the Office repair. If you did, did it say that there were errors?

Before we go any further with instructions, I'd really like to know the answers to these questions so we don't miss anything.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN
