I did do the repair function with the Microsoft Works Suite CD and it did not help. I also did a reinstall of the MS Word program. None of these helped; it still prompts me to start in safe mode and then freezes. I don't remember when I updated IE 7, and don't know of any new software downloads. I too think it is a conflict with something running, ( norton AV and AOL(macafee)running together maybe) but I am NOT sure. I think this problem statrted when AOL stated its automatic update.

I downloaded RegSupremePro, but what do tou want me to do with it?

Also attatched it SpySweeper log.

I know this is a tedious process, but I really thank all of you for helping me very much!

Chad

Whoa, BIG miss on our part. Do NOT run Norton and McAfee at the same time, this can cause all kinds of problems with your PC.

Please read the PCHF Protecting Your PC article in my signature.

Let me take a look at your Spy Sweeper log, and see if anything else shows up there. Then we'll go through the RegSupremePro instructions.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hey Chad,

Just making sure, did you run Spy Sweeper in Safe Mode? Make sure that both Norton's and McAffee are disabled, and run it again, just to make sure.

If it comes up clean, we will assume that the problem is the two A/Vs running at the same time. If it doesn't please post the log back here. Otherwise...

Please choose one or the other, run your clean up program again, either AVG or CleanSweep, and then run RegSupremePro. It will want to make a back up of your cache, let it.

Choose the Registry Cleaner tab, select Aggressive. Once it has finished, click on Select and choose All. Let it fix everything that it has found. Turn your PC off. Then restart your computer, and try starting Word again. If you get the same result. Uninstall Office completely, and reinstall. Make sure that you delete all instances of .dot files. Then reinstall Office.

We'll be crossing our fingers for you.

I dont know if I mislead you guys about the AV. I am running Norton antivirus on my PC, but I think that AOL uses Macfee to do their AV. I am not running both, I just thought that my AOL and the Norton may be interfering with each other.

Yes, I ran the Spysweeper in the safe mode and that is thh log that it found.

I will run the REGSupremePro and let you guys know how it does.

Thanks ,
Chad

I did run the RegSupremepro and selected agreesive and it found 1157 errors. I told it to fix all. restarted my computer, but the same problem with word still happening. Again, everything in my Microsoft works suite is working except my Word Program. I did the repair function and reinstalled the Word part of it but it still didn't help. After running the RegSupremePro, now at startup I get this pop-up that says E-Trust pest control real time has encountered a problem....and asks if I want to send an error report. This is driving me crazy!
I have ran another Spysweeper and the log is attached.

Thanks,
Chad

Hey Chad,

Is E-Trust something that you ever installed? Can you please open Spybot S&D, make sure that you are in Advanced Options, click on Tools, under Uninstall Info, see if you see any referrences to it.

Also, your Spy Sweeper is not giving you a complete scan. Make sure that you are in Safe Mode, set it to Custom Sweep, make sure that Virus and Rootkits are selected. Make double sure that your other AVs are disabled and rerun the scan. Let it quarantine everything that it finds.

While still in Safe Mode. Completely uninstall Office. It is a very interactive program, and it may be that while only Word is acting up, there are other files within Office that are damaged. Do a search for Normal.dot, delete ALL instances.

Reboot into regular mode. Run a search for E-Trust on all of your hard drives, delete everything that you find. Rerun RegSupremePro as per previous instructions. Then reinstall your Office.

Then repost and let us know where you are at. We'll look forward to your reply,

TTFN

Guys, I really think my Norton AV has a lot to do with this problem. I can't open it to turn it off, nor can I uninstall it or remove it. can you all tell me what I can do to uninstall it. When I go to add/remove programs in the control panel and select it and click remove it freezes. When I go to MY Computer and select C drive and program files and try to delete it, it says it is in use andwon't let me delete it. When I go to safe mode andtry to remove it, it tells me to resart my CP in normal mode. I have deleted a few of the Norton components( live update and something else) I just cantremove the main file. HELP....
Thanks,

Chad
