Default [Resolved] PC running terribly slow

Help! All of a sudden my PC is running slow. It runs in jerky movements....it goes grand, stops, goes again, stops etc. It is really frustrating.

I have run a disk scan, defragment, spybot, Norton( which never seems to be able to delete trojans anyway!) and freed up gigs of hard disk space.
But it wont go away!

Any help?

hey Master J!

You could have some spyware or malware which hasnt been removed/detected. Please can you follow the PCHF prework link in my sig and post an AVG report and a Hijackthis log. The security team will then take a look at the results.

PS: Your sig hasnt worked properly to make a quote put the text in between these commands

I couldn't paste it so here it is attached.

Hey, I just ran a reg scan - should I delete all entries without an associated file (ie. "file not found")?

I'm not knowledgable regarding reg scans, but do a registry backup before you even touch it, program or not.

Download ATF Cleaner
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Then run Panda ActiveScan.
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report.
