Can you do a copy in Notepad as to what it says when you hit Edit?

I might be dum but here there is not an "edit "button.

Do you see the screenshot you posted Thomas?
Where the 30 second timeout thing is there is an Edit button, this allows you to manually edit the settings.
You should see a thing that looks like this:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
