Smile [Fixed] Problems: IE6, Windows Explorer & My Computer

Hi All, This is my first post here. I spent quite a while searching thru posts for a problem similar to mine but couldn't really find anything the same. I am running XP Pro SP2 and ran for many months with no problems. All of a sudden, about a month ago, I began to have the following problem. It seems that whenever I try to start Internet Explorer, Windows Explorer or My Computer it takes forever (well maybe 30 seconds) for the application to start. Once they do start performance is sluggish. Internet Explorer will lock up if I open another Internet Explorer window. Links that I receive in emails do not open. Windows Explorer and My Computer are also sluggish and hangs everytime you change from folder to folder. There may be other apps that are affected that I am not aware of yet.

I am currently using Firefox for internet browsing and I do not have any issues when using this. I have updated and ran Norton Utilities, SpySweeper and AdAware with no issues. I did an OS "Update" off of my XP CD, but no change. This is my last attempt to fix this before reinstalling my OS. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Hya Dirty, welcome to PCHF.

Sounds like you have some malware on your pc. If you click on the 'Prework' link below in my sig, follow those instructions there, and then post the 2 resulting log files then we'll start with that.

Looks like you did everything just fine.

Run HijackThis , select to do a "system scan only" and then place a check beside each of the following:

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{3F2DC5E6-26E3-4E2A-9FCA-E4CFDC0DDDC0}: NameServer = 85.255.114.82,85.255.112.168
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{4909C43B-624F-4B2D-A53D-B4AFD2CE7F94}: NameServer = 85.255.114.82,85.255.112.168
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{CCA98251-E596-460D-A534-941C881579D1}: NameServer = 85.255.114.82,85.255.112.168
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{3F2DC5E6-26E3-4E2A-9FCA-E4CFDC0DDDC0}: NameServer = 85.255.114.82,85.255.112.168
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\..\{3F2DC5E6-26E3-4E2A-9FCA-E4CFDC0DDDC0}: NameServer = 85.255.114.82,85.255.112.168
Now first close all windows and browsers other then HiJackThis , then click fix checked and close HijackThis.

And then reboot your pc and post a new HJT log please.
