I did everything you told me to do except that avmusr.dll file still refuses to be deleted. Ewido came up with 4 "variations" of this downloader virus Downloader.whatever type of thing. When I restart my pc out of safe mode spybot told me about a registry change involving that "reminder" file and I denied it not knowing what to do. Heres my HijackThis log after being in safemode but I still see those files that should've been deleted. Im not using a Gateway pc but Im not sure what keyboard you were referring to, I have an emachines if that means anything.

Is avmusr.dll still present now? HJT shows it as "file missing" entry's now, so it seems it is gone.

First please temporarely disable Spybot and Spysweeper as they can interfere with the fix process:

To disable SpySweeper:

Open it click >Options over to the left then >program options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
Uncheck "home page shield".
Uncheck 'automaticly restore default without notifiction".

To disable Spybot's Teatimer:

Spybot's TeaTimer:
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
5) Restart your computer.



Run HijackThis , select to do a "system scan only" and then place a check beside each of the following:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0ee7219e-cb10-4d9b-8685-85b3f9f84597} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\avmusr.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Reminder] %WINDIR%\Creator\Remind_XP.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: avmusr - avmusr.dll (file missing)

Now first close all windows and browsers other then HiJackThis , then click fix checked and close HijackThis.

Reboot your pc, and post a new HJT log please. (including the top part)

Thats always great to hear.

Now that you are clean I would like to direct you to the Now That You Are All Clean / Malware Prevention , AKA "Afterwork" to try to limit the change of a reinfection as much as possible.

In your specific case take special note of the Java update, and maybe also Windows update. (I can't see the windows version without the HJT header.)
