I was able to delete the vzbb.dll through ewido, and by using hijackthis upon restart I was able to fix the two R0 files.

Now, although ewido cannot find further problems, I am still unable to modify the home page in IE. I am also unable to edit, rename or delete the Start Page registry key under regedit. I think it may just be corrupted... any way to delete it and start fresh without reinstalling everything?

It should be noted that mozilla works just fine, and I can't find any other errors... So if I just have to say goodbye to IE it won't be the end of the world.

Thanks for all the very quick help, you folks put all my previous tech support experiences to shame.

Hi Godard,

Can you please download Spy Sweeper from my signature, install and update it. Then reboot into Safe Mode, run CCleaner according to the previous instructions, then run Spy Sweeper.

Under Options, Sweep Options, make sure all of your harddrives are selcted. Under what to Sweep, make sure all options are checked EXCEPT Do Not Sweep System Restore Folders. Click on Sweep, Start. Let it fix everything that it finds. Please save the log to post back here, along with a new HJT log, run in regular mode. Thanks,

TTFN

All I can suggest you do now is to run your recovery disc if you think you have corrupted files...As I have never run one,Im sure someone here will guide you through it if you require help.

I do not see any previous instructions for CCleaner.

Can you please post what exactly should be ticked off and cleaned?

Thanks..

Hey Godard,

You should have started the instructions for PreWork by installing and running CCleaner. All options should be checked, including advanced. Answer OK to any warnings. Click on Analyze, then Clean.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

OK..will tackle this tonight.

CCleaner is not currently a part of your prework; just ATF cleaner...which may well do the same thing.

Yup , correct. For quite some time now. Also Spysweeper is also included in the Prework as an optional. So no need for separete instructions for that either. (apart from telling to use it , and where to find it)

And i have updated the instructions for the new Ewido 4.0 now.

And the problem that you have is very likely caused by an update of ZoneAlarm , and afaik that can only be turned of in the pro version. (untill they fix the bug anyway)

Do you have the free or pro version?
